The EU Cookie Law

On 26th May 2011, a new law was passed that affects the way company websites use cookies.

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers downloaded on to a device when the user accesses certain websites.

Cookies allow a website to recognise a user’s device.

The new law states that a website must gain consent if they want to store a cookie on the user’s device.

Our website is built on the popular WordPress platform, which uses cookies for three purposes:

  1. Registered members need a cookie to be able to log in.
  2. Visitors who leave a comment on a blog post will also have a cookie set on their computer.
  3. We track visitor numbers with Google Analytics.

We do not use third party marketing or advertising on our website, and we do not share any information with other companies.

Cookies cannot harm your computer – they are not viruses and they can be deleted easily at any point in your browser settings.

But if you do not wish for any cookies to be put on your computer, we suggest you close this internet window.

Which would be a shame 🙁
